Description:
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports for the Classroom will provide teachers with evidence-based strategies to improve classroom behavior management using positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS). The first part of the workshop will assist teachers in designing a classroom environment that prevents problem behaviors from occurring and encourages appropriate behavior in the classroom. Teachers will assess their classroom to identify areas of strength and areas in need of improvement. The second part will focus on Tier 2 interventions and practical strategies for responding to students with challenging behavior problems. Teachers will develop an action plan for their classroom, integrating information that they have learned throughout the workshop. Finally technology for sustaining professional development and professional learning networks will be presented. Learning will be facilitated through videos, websites, case studies, and discussions.
