We are proud to announce the First Annual RoboMEC Expo at the Microcomputers in Education Conference at Arizona State University!

  • Tuesday, March 16, 2010
  • 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  • ASU Tempe Campus – Coor Hall

In partnership with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), high school robotics teams from all around Arizona will be showcasing their robots and engaging in robotic competitions throughout the afternoon. Grab some fresh air and take a break between MEC Workshops to check out the robots, learn more about science and technology in our schools, and support our local high school students!

About FIRST

Inventor Dean Kamen founded FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and
Technology) in 1989 to inspire an appreciation of science and technology in young
people, their schools and communities. FIRST designs innovative programs to build
self confidence, knowledge and life skills while motivating young people to pursue
opportunities in science, technology and engineering.

The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors
to solve a common problem in a six-week timeframe using a standard “kit of parts” and a
common set of rules. Teams build robots from the parts and enter them in a series of
competitions designed by Dean Kamen and a committee of engineers and other
professionals. Students participating on FIRST teams are eligible to apply for over $12
million in scholarships.

Chandler-based Microchip Technology is the Organizing Sponsor and a “Leader in
Technology Sponsor” of the FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) Arizona Regional.
Microchip’s President and CEO, Steve Sanghi, is a Member of the FIRST Board of
Directors.
